MJ & seizures

Fri, 07/27/2007 - 23:37
Hey this might be a silly question but i'm gonna ask it anyway and plz don't attack. So i've been seizure free almost 2 years now (knock on wood) and entering college, my neuro said it would be okay to have a couple beers. I really thought about it and thought it was kind of insane to drink while on meds and just being an epileptic in general. However, he also said i could smoke. And when you think about it...it's seems safer. And in college, all people do is drink. 24/7. Sooo smoking is what gets me by. I don't do it often AT ALL. so i was just wondering whether you guys smoke and your experiences...good or bad.

If you mean smoking cigarettes my answer is drink beer. Beer is not one of the most addictive substances known unlike cigarettes. Beer won't distroy your lungs or cause cancer.

I'm kinda surprised your neuro said automatically its OK to have a couple of beers since alcohol tends to lower seizure threshold with those of us with E. I get twitchy and feel an aura with even a couple of beers...definitely a trigger for me. You may do OK with a few beers or you may not...you be the judge.. Be careful. We're all individuals, be good to yourself and make the best decision for you. Deb
