Sun, 08/05/2007 - 11:48
Hey all. I dont know how to tell my friends about my E. Ive had it for almost 7 years and none of my friends know. When they ask me what my medicine is for I tell the ADHD, anxiety and i leave out the epilepsy by saying something else. i know that is really bad cuz if i was with my friends and something were to happen that would not be good. None of my friends know about this. How do i tell them? how did u tell ur friends? Davita 3 3 ;-p

i was lucky and had the majority of my school friends actually witness my first grand mal seizure. after that there was no keeping it a secret. but as for the new friends that i make well... some ask what i'm allergic to when they see my medic alert bracelet and i say nothing i'm epileptic. others if i feel it necessary i just come out and say it. i'm not ashamed that i have it. its more of a precaution that you tell your friends and educate them about what to do in case you do have a seizure around them. they need to know what to do beside freak out. but then that's just my opinion. hope this helps you out :)

I told all of m y friends when i started having them because i was really scared and wanted support and i eventually had a G.M. at school so then everyone else knew. I'm at college now i i understand what you are feeling, seriously. I don't run around telling any and every one i meet but once i become close enough to go out with them i tell them (even though i have one have 1 szr that wasn't nocturnal so far)i don't want to risk it, you know if i go to a sleep over and have one that would be one hullova surprise! I suggest you tell your close friends and your bf if you have one and tell them what to do in the event that you have a seizure in their presence. If they're tru to you and your friendship they'll stick around Lynn
