VNS with Younger Children

Thu, 10/15/2015 - 13:14

Hi everyone.  I'm new to the site and wanted to get some advice from any parents that have had VNS done for a younger child.

My daughter is 6 and has just been put on a 3rd medication to try and control her complex-partial seizures.  Anytime she gets put on a new med or has to have her dosage changed, she's fine for a few months/weeks, then she'll have breakthroughs.  Her Dr. asked me to start considering VNS for her, but I have to admit, there are a lot of possible problems that can arise, and not everyone gets good results.  However, most of these findings are in older kids and adults.  Does anyone have any insight from personal experience on this issue?  I just don't want to put her through something like this if it's not going to help.  Anything would be greatly appreciated.
