Two Week After Surgery

Wed, 12/03/2014 - 08:03

Hello,

My daughter has had surgery on her Left Temporal Lobe that controls her right arm on 19 Nov 14. The surgery was successful but she lost control of her entire right arm which requires occupational therapy. Our issue is that she now has more Auras (15+ a day) than she did before surgery. She also has had 4 clonic seizues since the surgery. The doctor says to expect "some" seizures but this is crazy! She feels like this was a waste of pain and time. Has anyone ever experience seizures after surgery? Thank you in advance!

I had a section of my right

I had a section of my right temporal lobe removed. I still have seizures because seizure activity was also happening in my left temporal lobe. However, brain surgery lowered my seizure activity  ALOT!.

I also had left temporal

I also had left temporal lobectomy 3 yrs ago and am seizure free I was lucky it was instant for me but for some it takes time for seizures to end. The brain will recover and stop over time one must be patient and give it time. However in some cases it can move from left to right side but it is rare. I am with you and my prayers are with you! Occasionally they must go back and remove a little bit more as during the EEGs they might have missed a point and not removed it all as well. So many things are part of what caused a seizure to occur it must be waited out and maybe restudied if it keeps occurring. I am with you spreading HOPE Helping Other People with Epilepsy!

On 1-29-93 I had a right temporal lobectomy, and that reduced the amount of seizures A LOT, but I still have them, and now they have gotten worse. But also, because of the surgery my muscle strength has gone down the drain!!
