Interesting. Very similar reaction has happened to me after I had brain surgery this past February for removal of the majority of my right temperal lobe. The surgery was elective.
About a month later I had similar reaction as you had. I went to my GP and he said I was having an allergic reaction to my meds. He gave me a script (sorry I don't recall what it was) for about 2 weeks supply of an allergy medicine (?) and then had me begin a one week of OTC allergy relief. This aleviated the rashes and itching I had on my back, legs and arms. Now, about once a week, I will have itching for several hours on my arms or legs. One of my meds were changed-my Lamictal went to the extended release. I am on 200mg Vimpat, 600mg Lamictal XR, 1mg klonopin. Half dose in the am and the balance in the pm.
Yet something else I notice are "bumps" under the skin after a nights sleep. By the end of the day I cannot feel these "bumps" anymore-like they just disappear. They do not protrude the skin and are about dime size and they are only noticeable if you rub your skin. I have appointments with the dermatologist at the end of the month and the neuro after that.
I do not have any insights as to why this started and I haven't had anything like this before. The only change which I am leaning the blame on is the change to the XR Lamictal from "regular" Lamictal -not generic either. No dosage changes. I have been on Lamictal for 6-8 years. My neuro was very carefull when I started Lamictal to very slowly increase my dosage so I never had any rashes.
I hope you are doing well after the surgery and hopefully the rash will go away.

I'd look into Lamictal. Lamictal can cause a pretty bad rash and you should report it. I had surgery a couple of years ago and the only thing it impacted was my memory( I was diagnosed with a memory disorder).
