Parietal Lobe Surgery?

Mon, 07/25/2016 - 21:50
Hello everyone, want to see if anyone has went through with surgery for Parietal Lobe epilepsy and what was your outcome? I'm going through tests right now, and its been discouraging. I dont have a lesion showing on my multiple MRI's, but through non-invasive EEG monitoring and a few other tests, the SPECT and such, they found the origin to be the right parietal. Now we are moving forward with memory testing, the WADA and maybe invasive EEG. However, my MEG just came back normal and now they want to do it again, for twice as long. Has anyone else had surgery for this without a lesion? If so, how did your testing go, what hurdles did you have? And do you consider the surgery a success? Thanks everyone! Kayla

Hi Kayla,Did you ever get any

Hi Kayla,Did you ever get any more information on whether it was for sure the parietal lobe?  I do not have a lesion either, and I have been considering surgery.  It would be gamma knife surgery.  My doctors have said mine was coming from the right hippocampus, but my last in patient EEG readings looked like maybe it was from the parietal.  It could also be that the description of parietal seizures sounds exactly like what I have.  I just got done with the WADA and I will find out all the results next week.  My MEG was a bit confusing, it showed most of the activity on the middle/posterior aspect of the right temporal lobe and a few spikes on the right hippocampus.  If they do surgery it might be in both places, but it is all on the right side.  I would like to find out if you went through with it, and what your seizures are or were like.  Mine are text book parietal but they only come on the verge of REM sleep.Hope all is well,Bek
