No, thankfully I did not have to shave my hair. The replacement surgery is so simple it is an outpatient procedure. All they do is unscrew the old device which is located on the outside of your skull, disconnect the leads, put in a new device and reconnect the leads. The surgery does not involve removal of the skull or the brain being involved. It may seem as if I am oversimplifying the surgery but it is quite simple and does not last long.
