Just Had Surgery, Are These Affects Normal ( Full One. )

Mon, 09/08/2014 - 00:49

Hi Everyone,

I had some seizures for some years and was not diagnosed with Epilepsy until about 2 years ago. My left temporal lobe ended up being the problem. I tried out many meds and they did not work so surgery was my only option left, which I took and just got done around 4 weeks ago up here in Canada. It ends up I had a tumor there that was causing the problems. I am doing pretty well overall now after surgery, got the tumor removed, but do have a couple of problems that I was going to ask if they will get better?

1. I have double vision coming from my left eye I believe. Its only when my head is straight or tilted left, if its tilted right then I can see pretty much perfectly. Will this get better with time? If not, what can be done to fix this?

2. My jaw muscle had to be cut as well, and now barley lets me open my mouth. I have to cut all my food into baby pieces. I am still stretching it, but it does not seem to get any larger and hurts, how much more time will it take for that to heal? Will it ever get back to normal, where I can open it fully?

3. How much more time will it take for my left side to swell back down to normal? Its very bothersome still and I cant even lay on that side.

Thank you!

Hi Jojo,Thank you very much for the response, it is deeply appreciated.  K, I will then expect a slow and steady recovery for my jaw. I am glad he is now able to open it up almost fully! I will expect the same thing then, just give it its time to heal. K, Thanks for the time period on the swollen head. I will then just as well expect the same thing. Its much more down than right after surgery but still noticeable and I cant sleep on that side yet. Its very tender.  I am thrilled to hear that he has had none since surgery! (: That is absolutely great!  K, I am 24, So I give him a lot of credit for getting it done at his age. That shows a lot of maturity. I was having around 2 Simple ones a day and then about 25% of the time they would turn into complex partial ones, so I know exactly what he went through. Thank you again and please let him know that I wish him the best health ever!
