Home after Surgery; great results

Mon, 07/18/2011 - 03:34
Hi all- I haven't been on long, it's been five days in the hospital with the surgery, and I just got home this evening. I had Left Temporal lobectomy on wednesday last week. Recovery has not been fun, staying on pain killers as needed are important I was on it quite a bit in the hospital, but the last day it cut down, and now that I'm home with more freedom here, I'm a lot more in control of what I take as far as pain medications, no huge wait or stress over what I feel when I have to take it, and I've only needed the medication around 4 hours, rather than every 2 hours at the hospital. The speech I was worried about as the doctor suggested might be a difficult thing to deal with, that I may need speech pathologists in order to relearn my speech, that if he showed me things and asked me what they were, it may take me a while to come out with the proper answer. if they showed me a pen, it may take me a few guesses to identify it as such. when they did the testing at the hospital. Afterwards, they were unable to find any major difficulties I may have had. I think there may be some difficulties with stating the brand name of object I used to remember, but I'm easily able to describe it when I can't. trying to remember all the brand name drugs that they refer to when they asked me about it, I had difficulty remembering all the names of the drugs, but was able to sort through it pretty reasonably. I'm confident in the results, and I'm ready for any side effects I may have had, I'm pretty happy and growing better with every time I need more drugs. Will keep in touch. Peace- Carl
