HELP! Recovery Time

Mon, 11/27/2006 - 10:46
I should be going in for my LTL surgery some time in February but I am currently more worried about the time I will miss from work than the surgery itself (I know that probably sounds terrible but according to what they are telling me, I only have 12 weeks of FEMA per year and after that I not guaranteed my job and will have to switch to COBRA). I have already used part of this and have not even gone in for the WADA test, surgery or the the time for recovery. How long did it take for you to recover and get back to work after the surgery? Any response will be greatly appreciated.

when i had ltl surgery last may it only took me about a month to feel fully recovered. i was told by my doctor that i could go back to work in 1 to 3 months depending on the work i do. i ended up taking 3 months off but i feel i could have gone back in only one. i would have to say the hardest thing to recover from was the vision problems wich took about 4 months to fully go away hope this helps.

It's good to hear that you get to sit down all day because that will put hardly any physical strain on you at all. As for recovery time, I would also have to say that you should be able to get back to work in about a month. You won't be "fully" recovered until about a year after your surgery. However, be aware this is all general, the actual times vary significantly from one person to another because of multiple factors (how fast your body heals, your will to be healed, etc.). But in general I would say around 6 weeks should be plenty of time that you have so you can get back to work.
