Sorry that I didn't see your question earlier.  I had surgery over four years and haven't had a seizure since.  I still take Keppra, because my doctor has seen some cases in which seizure activity resumes.  But medication wasn't controlling my seizures before the surgery and now it is.  Have you made a decision regarding surgery?  Good luck to you.

Just came across this here.  I had right temporal surgery done July 2011.  Almost like pk here, meds were not controlling my seizures enough.  Prior to surgery I was on Topomax , Keppra & Clobazam.  Now I'm only on Keppra, hoping to stay seizure free on meds.  My neuro says for now Keppra is gonna be the "keeper" drug, just to make sure nothing happens.  He has also said that if a new med that will work just as well with less side effects is developed then we will talk about switching up.  Although seizure free, I grew up epileptic, and surgery was an intense process so epilepsy is a part of me, but surgery has lead to controlled and seizure free which is great.

Good Luck to you, hope you get to that same seizure free place :)

I had mri laser guided surgery February 8th of this year. I have been seizure free. I had complex partials and medication did not control it. Continued to get worse over time. I had three neurologist suggest surgery to me. I was scared. Glad I waited until now. Laser surgery is less invasive. Had surgery on Friday went home on Saturday. Hole size of pen with two staples.. Second epilepsy patient at Mayo Clinic In Jacksonville Florida to haver the MRI laser surgery. I have not had any seizures and my surgeon told me I would be 90 percent seizure free.
