"Brain Surgery Gone Bad"

I was scheduled for a bain surgery in decemeber of 2001 well for some odd reason i was somewhat excited because i thought i was finally going to be siezure free. Well lucky me my doctors decided to change the date to March of 2002! I was so disappointed. Well a week before my surgery I was a nervous wreck I did nothing but go to church and pray, well the day came and I went to the hospital well I went to prep and I had the surgery 2 of them at that. The first surgery they put grids on my brain and monitord my siezures for about a week then the second one was the actual surgery. Well when I finally went home I was siezure free for 3 months the longest I had ever been in my life. But one day I came home from my friends house and my dad sat me down on the couch and said I have something to tell you " Miranda you had a siezure this morning" I didn't know what to think, I started to cry, but my dad held me in reassurance, and told me everything was going to be ok. So If you are goin to have a brain surgery I hope yours goes well. Because I'm fixing to have another one soon. If you have any advice for me plz let me know.

When you go in, just hope for some seizures to go away. Dont get your hopes up for seizure free. For you never know how it will turn out. I have been through the surgeries too many times. I have gotten depressed for seven months because my hopes was TOO high. My surgeon told me, that many people go in, thinking they will be seizure free and up with major depression. take care and best of luck Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

I had temporal lobe surgery in January and I'm amazed that they let you have the surgery, given your belief it would automatically make you seizure free. I had a psychologist talk to me while I was at my week long neurological examination in the hospital. He wanted to be sure than I fully understood that no guarantee was made even if I did qualify for surgery. http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/surgery_expectations.html ~sol

hey all I had a brain tumor removed in 1998 which was causing epileptic fits (having upto 24 a week). Mind you it took them 5 yrs to find brain tumor my neurologist prior said i was hormonal because of age i started having seizures.\ Since surgery becuase of area of brain tumor was in (memory region) my memory both short & long is pretty shitt & can't concentrate for very long. Also i was told that once had surgery my seizures should cease. But i'm now having seizures caused by scar tissue on the brain from the surgery & meds don't control it at all. Its really frustrating i just want my seizures to follow some sort of pattern so i can learn to work around it. I used to get warnings before brain surgery but now get nohting & I to went seizure free after surgery for about 3months which was like heaven & then all of a sudden one day i had one while out with friends & i broke down when they told me.
