Seizures not really under control

Wed, 09/06/2017 - 21:15
I have seizures once every 6-9 months, they come without warning I'm on 1000mg Divalproex Acid, 800 mg carbamazepine, 150mg lamotrigine. I'm in bed every night by 9, up at 6AM for work. I'm 5'10", 190lbs. I work out 3x a week and eat right. Is there anything further that I can be doing?

Hi Joe, I'm really sorry to hear 8-14 days. Don't stop fighting. Every time I have a seizure I end up falling into a depressive state. I'm a huge car guy and now I can't drive again. What's even worse is I could've killed someone on Tuesday. I ended up veering off the road and crashed into a house(not enough to do damage). I'm happy that nobody was out at 6:30AM on my way to work. Police always ask how much I've had to drink or what kind of narcotics I'm on. Given my condition that I take seriously I don't touch either for obvious reasons. One thing that made me happy on Tuesday was EMS that arrived as well to take me to hospital apologized for suggesting I was under influence of drugs/alcohol.Still I wish there was a way for myself and everyone here to be seizure free.

I haven't stopped fighting. I

I haven't stopped fighting. I have only been living and dealing with epilepsy for 50+ years. I have never driven but I was a car guy back in the day. I can take a motor apart and put it back together on paper and physically. I was diagnosed before they had forums or computers so you had to learn how to deal with it in order to get things done. As for being seizure free. Some people will be seizure free. For me the cause was scared brain tissue in more then one lobe of my brain. All a seizure is it a electrical impulse hitting wrong in the brain causing a chain reaction. Do you know that can stop an electrical impulse from hitting wrong?? Almost everything you do is done with electrical impulses. your heart is a muscle electrical impulses cause muscles to jerk which is why they do a EKG on your heart. Finding the electrical pattern and making sure they keep the heart beats at set levels. You see I have A-fib too. medications to keep electrical impulses at levels are used for all kinds of things and yes they do work.Don't be sorry my seizures and post ictal time used to be from 15-90 minutes and at times longer. So a seizure today lasting a few seconds and nobody knowing I had one is better. Not driving can be done since I have been doing it since I was about 13.
