Talk to your OB/GYN and

Talk to your OB/GYN and epilepsy doctor or team about this.  the epilepsy itself is rarely a reason for needing a c-section. that really is dependent upon pregnancy risks or if any problems develop during labor that make OB feel need to do c-section. If a person is having more problems with seizures during pregnancy and during labor, the epilepsy and OB team may recommend c-section if seizures during labor are a problem for your health or the baby's. This is really individual decision but a perfect time to talk about with your health care providers and develop a plan. Good luck and congrats on first baby!

hi .. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 4. my husband and I went back and forth before we decided to have our son. I had opted for a natural birth but after 18 hours I was too tired and went in for a C-section. I think it has more to do with what you are more comfortable with.  I am also a small person and my son was over 8 lbs when he was born so I think that was a contributing factor. Talk to your OBGYN and have a plan in place. go about it in a very methodical and logical way. I know that sounds cold, but believe me.. it helps!

Natural Birth! I’ve had two

Natural Birth! I’ve had two successful home births ( I know it’s not for everyone!) but even in a hospital setting it is healthier for Mom and baby.C-sections can be very risky and account for our high infant mortality rate. You are the parents you get to make the choices and do the research. Congratulations on your first baby!!
