Trouble in school

Mon, 03/16/2015 - 22:02

My son is in 1st grade and he has primary generalized epilepsy and he has a 3 year old sister with autism.  He has had epilepsy since he was 4 months old.  It really didnt "effect" his life much other than the annoying "shakes" daily until this year.  It has been a whole nother story.  He is doing terrible in school.  He can't read, he has a horrible time remembering/learning his site words, his handwriting stinks and math is just as bad.  I'm really afraid he is going to fail.  We started the IEP in December and his last report card was actually better but we got his progress report today and its just going downhill.  Im at a loss on what to do to help him.  I dont know if he is just not focusing on what he is suppose to be doing or what.  Has anyone else gone through this?  I could really use some ideas or even just encouragement at this point.
