Temporal lobe epilepsy

Fri, 11/11/2016 - 23:53
So my daughter had been diagnosed by a neurologist with right sided temporal lobe epilepsy and since we switched to a epilepsy specialist in Boston there some confusion about if she really is having seizures. From what her pediatrician told me today was when she had seizures on video eeg it is not corrolating but when she's sitting and acting normal she shows spike waves and signs of seizures. Is there anyone who has gone through this?

Oh yes   I had 20-25 different EEG's tha all came back normal. I didn't have any seizures while taking them either. In a weeks testing I was given another EEG on the first day. It too was normal. All the other tests came back normal too. One was what the MRI replaced. Understand that my testing was done back in 1964. The last test was another EEG in which I fell asleep in. That eeg came back with abnormalities (spikes, waves aka epileptiform) By knowing where they came from the neurologists went back to that MRI test and a closer look in that area they found scar tissue in the left lobes of my brain. What causes a seizure is an electrical impulse hitting wrong in the brain. Those spikes she had while sitting are what the neurologists look for.Today I can have a seizure while discussing another problem with my GP and actually did. The seizures I have today are 2-5 seconds long. The delay I had in the question I was asking him he thought I was trying to find the word I wanted to use.In here you would find out that there are a lot of epileptics that have normal EEG's but still have seizuresI hope this helpsJoe
