Hi.. Despite having E & being on meds since I was a young child,.... I'd never before had the huge degree of negative reactions like those I got with Depakene (closely related to Epilm/Depakote). Loss of appetite is a known possible (serious) side effect so tell your specialist at once. http://www.epilepsy.com/medications/b_depakote_serious.html http://www.epilepsy.com/medications/b_depakote_side.html Wish you the best, ~sol

Hi: Our daughter who is 22 months started taking Depakote 250mg only 20 days back. She is having the same problem. She doesn't want to eat or drink anything.. While she is playful and happy, her food intake has hit an all time low. Infact, she fell sick with flu+RSV recently and we had to admit her in the hospital for 5 days with IV and antibiotics. We switched her from zarontin that had the same problem.. We were told that depakote helps with appepite..It is not the case.. I am planning to request my doc to change the medication and carry out an examination to check if everything is ok with her digestive system. I suggest you do the same, as depakote in the long run can cause issues with liver - the medication side effects document states that. Is your son playful and active? how long has been in medication? The whole thing is new to us and I am reading a whole lot of stuff everyday to learn more about this seizures and its medications. Wishing you good luck. Regards
