Seizure/Assistance Dogs

Thu, 08/02/2007 - 15:59
I am wondering if anyone one here has a seizure dog? Or is getting a seizure dog? I have been thinking about a way to sleep easier at night with Kaitlyn and I am wondering if a dog that would alert us that she is having a seizure would be worth it? And is really possible?! In a weird way it seems like our cat is possibly already doing this but I am not sure. I have been looking online lately noticing that there are places that provide the training at a rather huge cost but if it really helps, maybe it would be worth it. Kaitlyn seems to have seizures while falling asleep or when just waking up so I worry about her while she is sleeping constantly. Thanks!

My daughter is six and is on a waiting list for a seizure disorder dog.I cant wait until it gets here.I think I might beable to rest alittle easier when I do now. She is getting hers from a company named "canine assistants".They are a wonderful company. You dont pay anything for the dog. They even pay for the trip when the time comes to get your dog.The waiting list is long though. My daughter was four when she went on the list. She was alittle young then.If you need any more info let me know.

I swear the Boxer dog my dad rescued years ago knows when my son is having a seizure. This poor creature was beaten and starved half to death but is so gentle loving and attentive to everyone especially my son. Isn't that awesome? Kim :~)

I would love it if we could just get a dog and it would do it without having to be specially trained but we aren't really allowed dogs where we live unless they are an assistance animal. I thought that maybe if we could find a way to get one, it would let us atleast rest easy. Thanks for the reply.
