Seizure question

So my 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy at 2 by a neurologist and since then we switched to a epilepsy dr in Boston. Since the seizures started they worsened when we put her on keppra after a week of being on it she was in the picu for increased seizures and two had to be broken. Then we were put on trileptal and she would have 1-14 seizures a day now we are on vimpat we were having seizures daily but they wouldn't come up on eeg MRI normal and they had her on onfi then took her off and kept the vimpat well we were almost 3 months seizure free Toll November 1 she had 2 petit mal one the following week and had a grandmal seizure today she's on heavy dose of this med. is there anyone out there who is experiencing or went through the same thing? I'm so confused because the epilepsy neurologist isn't sure if she's having seizures but yet some eegs show epilepticform discharge but no seizure event. Sent from my iPhone

Generally all it takes to

Generally all it takes to diagnose epilepsy is 2 seizures. Which she has had.some eegs show epilepticform discharge <<<< That is what neurologists want to see. They are spikes or waves and by seeing them they know where in her brain they came from which can help with a diagnosis. Unless she had a seizure during the EEG itself the EEG will not pick it up. I say that because the EEG is taking the electrical impulses as they come out. Kind of like the EKG shows the heart... The vimpat is working but may need to be adjusted. Oh and medications do work but finding the right med and right dosage is what they are looking for. Make sure you give her the meds at the same time every day. If 2 times a day those times need to be 12 hours apart.the epilepsy neurologist isn't sure if she's having seizures <<<< The neurologist knows she is having seizures.. They do not know which type of epilepsy or type of seizures she is having. A seizure is a seizure whether it is epileptic or not.I hope this helps and she gets seizure freeJoe
