Recognizing seizures in toddler

Thu, 08/25/2016 - 00:52
My daughter is almost two. She was born with a grade 3 IVH (intraventricular hemorrhage). Her neurosurgeon said that seizures would be possible, but not guaranteed in the future. As toddlers do, my daughter has fallen and hit her head several times this spring. Each time she hits her head, her eyes roll back into her head and her whole body goes limp. Then she closes her eyes like she wants to go to sleep. She never gets a bump, even though the falls are hard. Most recently, a few days ago, she was rough housing on the couch with our son, who is 6, and she fell off and bumped her head. This time, her eyes rolled back three times, and her body went stiff. Still no bump. Are these symptoms pointing toward a type of seizure? She has an appointment to go see her neurosurgeon, but he can't get her in for another 8 weeks. I'm getting anxious to find out what's going on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes those could be seizures. Does her neurosurgeon specialize in epilepsy or just do neurosurgery. His office might be able to refer you to a neurologist that specializes in epilepsy which is what you may need
