Questions about baby with epilepsy, seizures not under control

Sun, 01/18/2015 - 12:28

Is it common for a baby to have long seizures? Her seizures are never under 15 minutes, every time we end up in the ER, cause they are over 5 min.  When others have seizures how long do they last? My neurologist doesn't seemed to be concerned, am I over reacting or should I find another neurologist? Any advice will help, I feel like I'm lost, she's been through a lot in her short life so far. Thank you!

What I have is a recovery

What I have is a recovery medication which keeps me from having a cluster of seizures. Which might be what your daughter is doing. Back to back seizures can and do look like one continous seizure. Ask her neurologist if they have a recovery medication for her seizures. Or like Amy Jo posted an emergency medication. If they are available it is better to use them rather then the cost of the ER and the doctors there. Most ER's do not have neurologists on call or right there that know what needs to be done and why. I do know ER's are great when it come to setting bones or cleaning up cuts or putting in stiches. Been there done that. I hope this helps and she gets the assistance she needs Joe
