Possible seizures? Anyone experience this?

Mon, 08/06/2007 - 14:51
I'm sure alot of you know Kaitlyn has seizures already, she is currently on Trileptal. My son Christopher will be 1 on the 23rd of this month. I am concerned about his behavior and wondering if any of you have experienced anything similar to this: Christopher ever since I can remember has always rocked and been in the need of constant stimulation (his feet have to be moving also if we are sitting still). Lately I realized that he was posturing kind of weird. He will arch his back, go stiff and then limp as a noodle. He will do this a few times back to back. It only seems to happen when I am holding him but I think that he is doing it while sitting on the floor I am just not noticing it as that, because he falls back and it seems like he is just laying down. I have a call into the pediatrician but they never take me seriously even when Kaitlyn started to have seizures. He does alot of talking and lip smacking too. I don't really know when this all started but the more I think about it, the more I worry. Help please!

Hi Emily, Hailey did something similar to this as an infant. She would scream, push back against my arms, make swallowing sounds and then suddenly fall asleep. I think I told you how she was given reflux medication for this behavior. I think it is good that you have a call into your doctor. I hope you can get some answers and reassurance. I just got off the phone with Hailey's neuro. I wasn't understanding everything at the last apt. (there is some what of a language barrier - she is Russian I believe.) Hailey is off the medication until her MRI results, but the slowing in her EEG is either due to structural damage which we would see on the MRI or her brain was recovering from a recent seizure. (Which would mean she is having some that I am missing.) I really have been in denial about all of this. If the MRI is fine I will have to decide if I want her medicated right away or if I want to wait and watch. I have no idea what I am going to do at this point. Take care and let us know what you find out. Jessica PS - I will reply to your email later today. :-)

i noticed my daughter having seizures since birth she would pucker her lips and do eye glarring- when mention to my doc, she remind me of janelle being premature and premature babies tend to do things fullterm babies don't few weeks later it seem as if janelle has stomach cramps she would lift her leggs and almost do a sit up and let out a loud distressful moan again doc prescribe a laxative so she wouldn't have to struggle to have a bm. weeks after that she would became really tired and didn't want to eat lost weight..ect i had a to sit in the docs office until she wittness the abnormal activites janelle was doing sure enough she was having seizures' i then later change "hospitals' to a learning hospital with specializing docs.. bottom line if you are feeling something maybe abnormal with your son go with what your feeling ask for a second oppition, and maybe an e.g.g it never hurts to ask

Thank you. I am pressing the issue and am going to call my daugthers neuro tomorrow morning. We have an EEG scheduled for his birthday so if all else fails we will have that done. The more I think about the things that we he is doing the more I worry. I think for sure something is off and I just can't pinpoint it. Thanks for the response.
