It does sound like fits. In fact, they sound similar to the ones I had as a child (I still have epilepsy at 29 years of age). What type of EEG did your son have. Was it a 30 minute one. Did they do it while the baby slept through the night etc. EEGs can yeild "normal" results even if someone actually has epilepsy. Electrical disturbances do not occur all the time. Because of this it may not show on the EEG. For example, I may have electrical disturbances 4 times a day but when I have an EEG done during a period anywhere between those 4 times the EEG may show normal. Let me know how it goes! I have had an MRI twice. It is completely painless and very safe regardless of age. An MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) simply takes a picture of the inside of the body. It will show any physiological abnormalities (i.e. scar tissue, growths etc..) The doctors will get an MRI done on the head so they can take a look at the brain for any potential abnormalities. It's fantastic that you are recording the fits. The more observations you gather the better chance of an accurate diagnosis in conjunction with testing. KEEP DOING IT! Very small children who are very ill do sometimes have seizures. That does not mean they necessarily have epilepsy. Did he have the fits only during periods of illness (i.e. when he had the tonsil problems)? This could be just before, during and/or after periods of illness. Keep in mind that there are many causes of seizures. That does not mean your child has epilepsy or will even continue to have seizures in the near future. It certainly does not mean your child will be unhealthy or have serious side effects. Anything involving the nervous system can be complex at best.

I also have a son exactly 3 1/2 yrs old. He also had febrile convulsion for 45 minutes when he was 6 months old. Later when he was 1 1/2 years old he developed a Absence seizure. We have done 2 MRIs and many EEGs to diagnose the symptom. It really helped to put him back to normal day-to-day life. He was treated with an anti epileptic drug. But he delayed his speech. Then after 1 1/2 years again when he was 3 years, he started these episodes again. We had to take 2 MRIs & it was diagnosed A part of the brain called Thalamus was creating sparks which results in these kind of seizures. The Doctors suggested to take a Video EEG for FOUR DAYS continuous before recommending for a surgery. They Suggested to wait for more time & changed the Medicine. He's getting better. MY ADVICE TO YOU... DO THE MRI. IT HELPS!, IF YOU ARE FINANCIALLY CAPABLE GO TO INDIA THERE ARE MANY GOOD DOCTORS OVER THERE & TREATMENT IS SUPER FAST. AND YOU CAN GET THESE DONE AT A VERY REASONABLE COST ALSO. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO DO THIS PROLONGED VIDEO EEG, THEY CAN GIVE YOU THE MOST ACCURATE OPENION TO MAKE YOU SON BETTER. KEEP UPDATING YOUR SEIZURE CALENDAR, WITH THE TIME & THE PLACE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.
