New here

Hi I am new here. My 15 year old son has just been diagnosed with epelipsy. They are starting him on meds tonight. I thought at the beginning I was strong I could deal with this without getting over emotional. I feel like my heart is breaking. He just got his learners permit in May .. and he's just been told he can't drive .. all the things he loves to do .. swimming, riding his bike, skateboarding he can't do anymore. The look on his face when the doctor explained it to him ... just tore me in two. I understand why he can't do these things and I have tried to explained to him why .. but it doesn't help. I understand that some types of epelipsy the person may grow out of it. His siezures are in the frontal lobe and then become general .. is what I believe the doctor said. What chance is there that he will outgrow it? And I don't understand why he has this to begin with .. the ct came back normal, niether me or my husband have any history of siezures in our family that we know of. He has not had any head trauma in his life .. I just wish I could make it all go away.

Hi Jenny. I'm new here too, but not that new to what the topic is. I started having seizures when i was 13 ( grand mal ), and i'm 48 now. If you ever want to talk, i'm around. Take care now.
