New to Epilepsy - help for those in rural areas

Wed, 05/31/2017 - 04:00
I am a single mom with 13 yo son who began having seizures in January. We live in a small town in southeast Georgia. We are seeing a pediatric neurologist in Brunswick, Ga and currently trying to find the right medicine/medicines to control his seizures. My biggest issue right now is finding emotional support for both of us. He has told me he is scared and of course I am. It's easy to say not to live in fear but I think we both need help figuring out how not to live in fear. Does anyone on here know of any kind of support groups or counseling services in south Ga?

have you checked out your local epilepsy foundation affiliate? there's a way to look those up on this site but basic search gives epilepsyga.org . there are also online groups - this site, facebook, coping-with-epilepsy.com and various others.
