HI, my 12 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Simple Partial Epilepsy. I'm nervous all of her EEG's have not shown significant activity only slowing of the brain waves in her frontal temporal lobe but her neurologist still feels it is seizures. It effects her left side mostly her leg. It looks just like a muscle spasm but they last for more than an hour sometimes without giving her Ativan. She is always alert and her cognition does not change. They are very painful and then she is very sore . We have started on keppra and she has had one episode so far. She seems very emotional has anyone else seen this was to their kids on keppra. I'm constantly watching her and checking on her for side effects etc as well as anticipating the next seizure. Has anyone else wondered if these episodes could be just muscle spasms or am I a parent just in denial.....

My 8 year old daughter was just diagnosed with Focal Motor Seizures. So far, the seizures have only affected her right side of her body. Her seizures are all prolonged, requiring Ativan to stop. Her first seizure lasted 3 hours! We are on day 10 of Keppra and are noticing some moodiness and behavior changes. Our neurologist suggested that we stick it out for at least 4 weeks. She said that the side effects have a tendency to lessen once the body gets adjusted to the meds. She also has my daughter taking 50mg of B6 daily to help offset the moodiness. I feel like I have so much to learn...
