Hello, this is the first time l've ever done this. My boy (3) has just been dignosed with epilepsy - unspecified. We are waiting on a brain scan to find out more. He's started on keppra. I'm terrified as l feel he's having seizures at night/very early morning and l'm not there for him or something bad will happen to him. Sometimes, like this morning, he was very sleepy and groggy complaining of a sore tummy. This lasts for an hour or two. He was pale and hot. I just feel we have been told this news given a bottle of medicine and left waiting on a letter to meet with his doctor. I have so many fears, l don't know the questions l should be asking or when his behaviour is related to the medicine, the seizures or his development. Please could a parent who understands give some advice? Thank u

I am not a parten but I do know much about epilepsy and medications. Keppra is becomming the go to medication. I have been using it for years now. It not only reduced the number of seizures I was having but it also reduced the time in  those seizures and time to get back to normal. If yo ustaretd the medication good. If it is to be given 2 times a day then have the dosages taken at the same time morning and night.... It does take time for the body to get used to the medication and it also takes time for the medications levels to build up in the body. There is no one size fits all medication for epilepsy As for parents there are many in here that will give you information... 2 are Amy Jo and mereloaded. Do read their posts and others. because their kids have epilepsy and they have been dealing with issues and meds for their kids I hope this helps and he gets seizure free Joe
