My daughter with Myoclonic jerks....

Mon, 08/22/2016 - 06:24
Hi All, I deeply appreciate your inputs as I am new & entering in to the ring of the world of this forum. My 2.6 years old daughter had a GCTS on July 6, post which she admitted to hospital & temperature reading 102 degree. She discahrged next day basis it was Febrile Convulsion. OK, NP. After over 15 days (around July 26), it appears to be her first Myoclonic jerks. Initially it was 1 or two for first few days gradually increasing to 15 to 20 per day. What we also observed that she now have a combination of mild (object do not fall or flown out of hands) & strong jerks (objects may throw out of hands and both hands will throw up outwards). Her MRI is normal though EEG show slow intermittent waves. But doctor say this could be her recent GCTS. Doctor started her with Frisium 5 MG once at night. For the past 4 days. Time prior to four days spent in getting various test done. Now I need to learn from your experience....what is the long term outlook? What actually future holds? Will she have more severe form of seizures in future? Will she develop more GCTS? (Generalized Tonic Clonic Seizures)? What actually happens on a time to come.....? I deeply appreciate your inputs. Please help, we are frightened & nervous. She just had started her playschool on July 1 :( Thanks

She had a GTCS on july 26

She had a GTCS on july 26 admited into hospital with high temp.  There are many different thngs that can cause a seizure. One time seizures can be common. She started having myoclonic jerksthe parts that I do not understand is the fall ot flow out of hane or the throw upward. Is that something flying or thrown, or is it the arms moving weird. SO you had tests doneMRO came back normal. The EEG came back with inermittant waves. The docs say this could be her recent GTCS.   OK the brain shown nothing that is not normal which is good.. Meaning no tumore. brain cells that didn't grow right or scar tissue. But the EEG is a brain wave test showing the electrical output coming from her brain. Neurologists want to see abnormalities. Those slow intermittant waves are abnormalities. The place in hte brain they came from would also help the neurologist with their diagnosis. Since Temperal lobe and other lobes are used in diagnoses.Just because you had only seen her in the GTCS does not mean those seizures will be the only seizures she will have.I had one grand mal (tonic-clonic) seizure. I have had focal seizures. Some of those focal seizures generalized meaning they covered the brain and became convulsive. They loooked like tonic-clonic. I hav many different seizures that landed between them. You are on teh site that can give you information. Research and you will find out moreOne persons seizures may have th same name but each persons seizure is different..
