Moodiness and Personality Changes

Tue, 03/31/2015 - 05:05

My 12 yr old daughter is taking Lamictal for her seizures.  She suddenly has become very moody and agitated, which is not her normal personality.  Also, I might add that she had been complaining of headaches a lot lately.  I was wondering if anyone had experienced this behavior when taking Lamictal, or is this something new going on?  Please help...I want my little girl back!  Thanks in advance!

Have you talked to the neurologist about the effects and if they are likely to go away after a time? How long has she been on it? This is not the reaction my daughter (8yo) has on the generic so I can't say we've seen that but does sound possible it is the drug. I'd be worried about poor moods that don't resolve, esp if things get worse. My older kids were getting into full blown teen by 12 so there may be some hormonal changes affecting her as well, could amplify some seizure related issues.
