Looking for some reassurance

Thanks for reading firstly. I am a mum from the UK with 4children. My eldest daughter (14) has been suffering hugely for over a year with 'headache/migraines' and after a long wait finally got to see a paediatric Dr. The Dr was fantastic and sent us for my daughter to have an MRI which she expected to come back normal. We were called in on 29th Jan and told the scan had picked up differences in her brain and that it was not symmetrical. The Dr proceeded to tell us that the symptoms my daughter was having we're seizures. I was taken back and asked 'do epilepsy'? The Dr replied yes. We have been keeping a diary and the 'headaches' are more frequent, lasting longer, my daughter looses the ability to speak or gets her words jumbled up. My daughter also slept 15 hours straight after her head and eyes were hurting. I called out open access and waited 6hours to be seen and finally got seen by the most arrogant Dr I have met. He spoke rudely to my daughter, was intimidating and said "it's just a headache"?. I just wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms as I feel I've dreamt the whole thing up! We're going in for an eeg on Monday. I just feel like he didn't care. Any advice is hugely appreciated. Xx

The posts below have information in them. The 2 main tests used to diagnosis epilepsy are the MRI and the EEG. The EEG is a brain wave test which shows the electrical output coming from the brain. The MRI shows the brain as it is. Deformations if any differences of any kind. With the EEG it captures the electrical impulses going off in the brain. Abnormalities (spikes or waves) are also called seizure activity. If they see any they know where it came from in the brain. I went thru tests and the seizure activity came from the left lobes of my brain. Doc then looked at the MRI and found out that I have scared brain tissue in that area. The look and technology today says it scar tissue was done between 6-8 yoa. Doc said it was from a blow to my head, Yup it was. the docs back then were more worried about my mouth then the large bump on my head. $ teeth knocked out and a gash in my jaw and tongue which took 32-36 stiches to sew up. The EEG will give the doctor more information unless it comes back normal. What ever you do keep the fantastic doctor and work with him/her. The one you need is a pediatric neurologist that specializes in epilepsy. I hope this helps and she gets her seizures controlled. Joe
