Keeps having seizures

Tue, 04/17/2007 - 16:18
Hi! Well...today is has been 3 weeks that Shelbie started having 4-5 seziures a day. The are not the tronic clonic but myocloinc absence seizures. But she has had 2 tronic clonic this week and 5 myocloinc. I am so lost for this child. Last week she was playing on the play ground at school. She told everyone she tripped, but the teachers stated she had a seizure. When she fell, she didn't catch herself and went head first to the ground. Her tooth broke. Yesterday she was playing at school and had another one. Today she decided not to play but sit on the curb. I feel so bad for her. We had a video EEG on Friday, but the results are not in. I have decided to get a referrel to Cleveland Clinic. I am hoping they will have some answers. Thanks for letting me talk. Mindy

hi Mindy- I'm sorry this is happening to your dd. My daughter (age 9) has frontal lobe epilepsy and we go to the cleveland clinic. We have been really happy w/ her care there and she was diagnosed after 2 years of seizures that were originally diagnosed (by a diff. nuero) as sleep terrors. Just wanted to reassure you that they have a great ped. nuero staff there- I hope you find some answers- Emily

Poor Shelbie! I understand what you are going through. My son will be 3 in June and was recently diagnosed with generalized seizure disorder. He has seizures 3 or 4 days out of the week. Most of them are atonic (aka drop) seizures but he has jerking seizures, too. They are not full-blown grand mal seizures but they sort of look like them. They last a few seconds and make him really sleepy. He's so young that he doesn't understand what's going on but I think the seizures are starting to scare him a bit. He had a small one in the car today and he started crying and saying he wanted to take a nap. It literally broke my heart. I hate this! I would do anything for him (and us) not to have to go through with this. My son had his video EEG last week and we are supposed to get the results next week. Best wishes to you and your daughter!
