Infants on Ketogenic Diet/Chiropractic care

Wed, 03/07/2007 - 01:28
Hello my name is Jessie, my son's name is Stage. He is now 6 months old and has been having seizures since birth. He is currently taking Phenobarb, keppra, zonesimide, and Diastat. The Neurologists wanted to put him on another one and that's when I insisted on the Ketogenic diet. Just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with infants on this diet. We just started it about a week ago and so far he seems to be tolerating it well. He still has had about 10 breakthrough seizures. We also began Chiropractic care about 2 weeks ago. What a difference! His tone in his body was so low. Since taking him to the Chiropractor he has started to gain strength in his back. It's crazy. I'm beginning to think that the more specialists I get involved the better his outcome will be. I guess I'm just living in some sort of denial or something. But I just can't settle for this whole seizure thing. There has to be more to my son's life than this. My son's epilepsy has become my obsession. I have so much pain and hurt in me that I have to channel my energy towards healing. I envy The "Normal" mom's. You know the ones that don't have to play Nurse to their children and get to just be mommy. That's what I miss the most. -Jessie
