I'm new and Scared Help!

Fri, 08/15/2014 - 00:26

Hi all. I didn't know where else to turn so I googled and found this forum. My 2 yr old son had a minor seizure at 6 months old then yesterday had a major seizure. He was laying down napping and I could tell he wasn't feeling well then all of a sudden he started jerking horribly and his eyes rolled back and his lips turned blue. I called 911 while giving him breaths. 911 got here and by that time he was not jerking and his color was coming back. They said he had a seizure. He did have a fever when he got to the ER, however they can't be sure if it was a febral seizure or something else. He goes to his new dr to tomorrow at 9. I've been awake for 38 hours. I can't eat or sleep. All I can do it stare at him and watch him breathe. I am in a constant state of panic worrying it will happen again. I don't known how to cope with any of this. I don't know if this is the beginning of a long journey or a isolated incident. I just needed to connect with someone who may have experienced these feelings.

You are not alone. Even people that have epilepsy don't know what to do and it does take time to learn, As for it being an issolated incident you posted he had a minor seizure at 6 months of age. That might mean it isn't a one time issue. Until he sees the new dr and they come up with a diagnosis then yo uhave no idea what might happen. My mother was like you but then I was a teen but yes she didn't know where to turn and back then there were no forums. Mothers are wonderful and yes they are the main people who fret and worry about their children. I would not be here if it weren't for my mothers prayers. Please relax and by all means eat something. Your kid can tell if you are worried or stressed. Stress is also a trigger for some people with epilepsy and what you are going thru may give him some stress. It may not but relax some and understand that all it takes to be diagnosed with epilepsy is 2 seizures. Also know that there are some kids that grow out of epilepsy. My cousin is one of those people. Epilepsy can be controlled and there are a lot of medications out there that can do just that. ontrol or stop the seizures. I hope thos helps and your son gets seizure free. Please come back and let us know how things went at his dr's appointment
