Hey parents, Here is a book which I found referenced to on this site (sorry I can't remember who brought it up or I'd give them the credit!)--I've read most of it, and I have been greatly encouraged! Ever since our daughter's seizure almost 2 months ago, and especially since our appointment with our neurologist (who provided NO help other than a prescription), we have been lost in a sea of confusion about terms and medications and tests we don't understand. We've been second-guessing everything our daughter does/doesn't do, over-analyzing all situations, and just plain emotionally worn out. This book has given much information and great comfort. I wish our doctor had referred us to it the minute he declared Karissa as having a seizure disorder. Hope it helps you, too! Seizures and Epilepsy in Childhood: A guide, 3rd edition, by: John Freeman, MD; Eileen Vining, MD; Diana Pillas (2002) Just FYI: we've started Karissa on Trileptal, and sofar no side effects. I don't know if they'll appear as she increases her dosage, but for now we're grateful that our prayers are being answered. Thanks to all for all your encouragement! Hang in there!

This book was extremely helpful for our family too. I have recommended it to people a few times. One of the doctors my son sees saw it when I brought it to an appointment and he took down the information to recommend it to parents of his patients.
