Has anyone else had these type of issues?

My daughter is 7 years old and had petit mal seizures. WE have tried Depakote, Lamictal and Kepra. None of the drugs worked. SHe was getting were she was starting to have stronger and longer seizures. WE are on the Ketogenic diet, but now we are having major behavior problems. She has angry outburst and is emotional alot. She cheats and sneaks so we have been debating coming off of the diet. It has been a rough year trying to manage the diet and the drugs on top of getting her to understand what all she is going through. Sometimes it is almost liek a totally different girl is living with us and then we see Rbecca come back to us for awhile. We both have Grammal seizures in our family.

Let's see.. I've had E since I was three years old, so let me take a stab at replying. But, rather than 'my' opinion, I think it best to find the info via a site created by physicians. This is a good site: http://www.epilepsy.com/articles/ar_1064604275.html Hope that helps ~sol

I personally have been on the diet as an adult. It can be a very rough rode with weighing and getting things precise. As for your daughter the diet can be rough itself. Just the change of foods, and not allowed to eat only certain foods, and dealing with the meds too, always a challenge. What meds is she on? For many of the meds can cause behavioral problems and just adjusting to her life differently too. Just seizures can take a toll on our bodies. SO there are several things that can be happening right now. How is she doing on the diet? Has it helped? take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
