Frontal Lobe Seizures

Tue, 04/28/2015 - 19:05

This is all new to me.  My four year old for the past year has had daily numerous "events", although which were suspected to be seizures, were not diagnosed until yesterday on her EEG during a sleep study.  This has been a hell of a year, with our child going to every other speciality, having invasive procedures done and following through with recommendations that did nothing to help control her events.  She has been referred Keppra to start.  Has anyone out there had expereince with frontal lobe seizures in children?

Mereloaded is using her son

Mereloaded is using her son and I have seen many of her posts. She is right when they say people uae many different things prior to comming up with epilepsy. I use my own experiances and was about 11-12 when I started having seizures which were petite mal (absence seizures) I also has focal seizures (today many of them would be considered absence or simple partial seizures). It wasn't until after having a grand mal seizure that started connecting the dots. But the dots weren't all there. During those years I had been written up for day dreaming in class. Yup one of the top students in class and in the pop quizes was a day dreamer. Or so they thought. It took a few years before the testing came up with something that could be looked at. 20-25 different EEG's all came back normal. I went thru a week of tests and they all came back normal. The last test was another EEG in which I fell asleep in which came back with abnormalities (seizure activity).  By knowing where the electrical impulse came from the neurologists and other doctors went back to all the other tests. One was a MRI of the 1960's and after checking it closer in that area and they found scared brain tissue. As for keppra it is becomming the go to medication for seizure control. Mereloaded's son takes it and is doing well. I have been using it for over 10 years and it not only reduced the number of seizures I was having. It also shortened the time in those seizures. A seizure that used to last 2-5 minutes is now seconds. The time to get back to normal used to be 15-45 minutes (longer at times ) is now seconds. I can have one while in a discussion and the people arround me would know nothing about it. I hope this helps and your son gets the assistance he needs and he gets seizur free Joe
