First tonic clonic

Mon, 06/13/2016 - 17:02
Hi! I'm new to a lot of this and have a few questions. My eldest son has benign Rolando epilepsy and has for at least 5 years. He is 8 and has partial brain seizures. My 10 month old son had his first and only (so far) seizure which was a 2 1/2 minute tonic clonic seizure. Other than it being traumatic at the time I find myself being terribly nervous all the time about it happening again. I have a hard time leaving the room to go to the bathroom and sleeping is tough. It was a week and a half ago. It takes mo the to get in with a neurologist so I have a lot of time to wait for answers. He was not sick and didnt have a fever. The eeg results haven't been read either. So, the questions: Has anyone else had a child that had a seizure that didn't have one again? I am super hopeful that it was a one time thing. Also, did anyone or their child have a seizure and a normal eeg? It was performed 25 hours after the event. Thanks!

Like Amy Jo said some EEG's can and do come back normal. I myself had 20-25 different EEG's that came back normal. she mentioned sleep deprived or a longer EEG can show more. YUP the first EEG that showed spikes or waves was one in which I fell asleep in.
