Feeling Concerned

Fri, 04/07/2017 - 11:20
Feeling overwhelmed with emotion. My daughter had another seizure 2nd one this morning. Really wish I could make this better for her. We have a trip planned on Sunday. I am getting more nervous about going. She is in the process of changing medicine and I am waiting to see what her doctor says. We are still going on the trip because we cannot live in fear. She was upset this morning that she had another one. It is very hard watching this happen to your child. I am just feeling a lot of emotion right now and needed to write them down. We love her so much and wish we could make it better for her.

I am sorry that you are feeling upset.  I have had seizures since i was 6 years old and have lived with seizures for 30 years.  Now that i have a family of my own i can sometimes see my parents side.  I am not sure how old your daughter is or what medication she is on but as i grew older my seizures were less frequent.  I have lived a pretty normal life.  I will say as her body changes the medication can change as well.  Also as i have gotten older i can recognize when i need to slow down or something is not right.  It is frustrating when you do have a seizure but in the long run i feel it has made me stronger.  Good luck today at the dr.

Go on the trip. She may not

Go on the trip. She may not have a seizure. But if she does note it and make sure she takes her meds. Oh and if the RX has take 2 times a day then those times need to be 12 hours apart unless the neurologist says otherwise. As she grows and changes her dosages may need to be changing. Weight and age are looked at with some medications. I know because when I was changing from a bratty kid to a full grown teen mine needed changing 3-4 times in less then a 18 months. Well gaining about 50 lbs and growing about 10 inches does make a difference. At times medications may need to be changed

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice. Yesterday she had had a 3rd seizure which we told to give her diastat & we went to the ER. After about 4 hours & hoping to maybe come home she seized again. They gave her meds and decided to admit her.  Last night they also hooked her up to the EEG per doctors orders. Hard to sleep in the hospital. It is about 7:10am. She had her 5th seizure in 26 hours.  She was on depakote and we started taking her down recently and added ONfI & Lamictal. They gave her something called Vimpat last night.  Hoping we can get them controlled. Her neurologist will be coming in this morning.  She is 13 turning 14 in June and she is getting mad that this is happening. I am wondering if they can be triggered by her hormones.  Hoping she recovers and hoping we can still take our trip.
