Eeg question for four year old

Wed, 10/05/2016 - 13:41
My daughter had her first big seizure a month ago. Yesterday she had an eeg to help us try to determine what was going on. During the eeg she was blowing on a pin wheel. She seemed to zone out for a moment during this time and the nurse asked her to say purple cow. She asked three times and finally my daughter answered. Can anyone guess what was going on with this? We don't get any information from the eeg until we see the neurologist next week. Thanks

She seemed to zone out for a moment <<< zoning out could be an absence seizure which can last a few seconds and into minutesnurse asked her to say purple cow<<< The nurse was trying to find out if she was in a seizure which she might have been if the nurse asked more then onceThe attendant giving the EEG is doing that giving the EEG. Some will know how to read it but most don't and are not to tell you what if anything they know. It is the neurologists job to reach is and gather the information and discern what the diagnosis is and why. As Amy Jo posted In the learn section there is a lot of information for you to research so go there and research the types of epilepsy and types of seizures. You might also research Diagnosis

Thank you all.  We are seeing

Thank you all.  We are seeing the neurologist this coming Friday.  I know that he will answer my questions.  I knew the nurse/technician couldn't tell me what was going on, but the part I described really scared me.  I know Friday is only a week away, but it seems like forever.  I have been reading everything everyone suggested.  My daughter does have moments of zoning out, but so do a lot of four year olds.  She had also had three bathroom accidents in the Kat month, where she just seems to pee all over herself.  Again, something that can be due to her age too.  Basically, I am trying not to read to much into what I am reading and to wait to see the neurologist.  Thanks for your advice/support.  Just trying not to be too scared.
