Daughter is dropping out of Ketosis and having seizures

Sun, 08/16/2015 - 12:45

Hi,

I hope that somebody might have an idea as to why my daughter keeps dropping out of "large" ketosis (per keto sticks) and into "small" ketosis.

She is 5 and we started diet therapy back in May.

We started LGIT at 50-60 carbs per day.  At that rate, she went into "small" ketosis.  We continually dropped down on carbs until we went to MAD at 10 carbs per day.

We are now at a 2:25 ratio and are starting 2:5 as of today.

Since May, we have had some really good days, but it seems that she gets to "large" ketosis and then after a week or so, she drops back down to "small".  I can tell because we see more seizures and she complains of being hungry.  I test her and sure enough, she is at "small".

Her last blood test showed that she was at 3 and the doctor would like her to be between 4 and 6.

She does not eat anything other than what I provide her with and I am baffled.

Has anybody else experienced this?  Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Laura
