5 Seizures last night from Mcdonalds Hamburger or Exhaustion?

Fri, 06/05/2015 - 14:47

Hello, my son has seizures at night and they have never been under control.  However I thought we were beginning to get them a little bit under control because he was having maybe 1-2 or 3 at the most at night... Last night he had 5 strong longer lasting seizures.  I am trying to pin down triggers because this is all new to us.  I gave in to a McDonalds burger something we never do...it was a sirloin 1/4 pounder...that he ate.  But he also had a new swimming class that overly exhausted him.  I guess both of the situations could have contributed...but does anyone know for sure.  Thank you for any insight.

Well I read the posts. I also know how medications might need changed or increased. As one ages or their weight changes the medication dosage may need to be increased. I had mine changed 4 times in about 1 year. All because I grew. I was 4'8" amd weighed 58lbs. I was 5'6" and 140lbs. changes were made in my medication about every 2-3 months. Without the changes in dosage I was having more seizures.

Everything that you just

Everything that you just described happened a few days ago to my 6 year old Terrier.  The only difference is she didn't go swimming, she went for a walk.  Although I know a human is much different than a dog, I would hate to have not said anything with such a coincidence of situation.  My dog's heart stopped for around 45 seconds after her 4 seizure.  She was acting perfectly fine, and she was minding me very well.  I made a quick run to McDonald's for lunch earlier, and had a hamburger left over.. When I have her a peice of the burger, only meat and cheese,  she ended up having a seizure less than 5 minutes later.  But this was not the first time she had seizures within hours of having eaten McDonald's.  MSG is documented to give animals seizures.. But I'm glad I found this article.

I have epilepsy. This morning i picked up some sausage egg mcmuffins. The smell of them triggered an aura. 10 years ago i ate them almost everyday. I really struggled with seizures. The last seizure i had was 6 years ago and i had just eaten an egg mcmuffin.
