4 yr old EEG results

Thu, 08/14/2014 - 19:53

We just had our second EEG in 3 weeks for my 4 yr old son. We got the report from his 23 hr EEG today and it says "extremely frequent independent bicentral temporoparietal BECTS like spike wave discharges". He had slightly more frequent spikes while asleep. My son has been having staring spells and has been on depakote for a year. Since this EEG we have upped his depakote and added zenagren. ESES is also mentioned in the report. We did this second EEG to see if the new meds will have calmed the abnormal activity. My son has autism and ADHD also. Just curious if anyone can give me any info or insights. The one neurologist said it was frequent enough to affect his learning. Thanks!

Don't think there is a critical mass of people here to answer your question (beyond BECTS normally not bad, ESES not good). The old EF site (still working but less active now that people are directed to this place-with-less-usable-options, I'm sure they thought there was a good reason but it isn't for the usability of forums here) may have someone who knows or could point you to a very narrow support group for ESES/LKS.  If you post to the group below, message with subject line goes out to members. Posting to the parent forum does not.  Search there may also be of interest.http://epilepsyfoundation.ning.com/group/parentstalkingwparents
