3 1/2 year old just diagnosed with epilepsy

My 3 1/2 year old son was just diagnosed with epilepsy this past Sunday. He has had 3 tonic clonic seizures since December 26 2015 so in the last 3 months. Prior to that he is/was a healthy strong little boy. No prior history, no head injuries. MRI came back normal. CT scan clean. We have an appointment this next Monday for an EEG. On Sunday the ER doctor wanted to prescribe keppra and I said no. We wanted to research it and look at other options, something more natural. I have been looking into essential oils, but from what I have read they are to use along side medication. I feel alone and worried. I don't know what to do and I'm terrified of making the wrong call. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
