10 year old son with possible seizures

Hi, I am so happy to find this board!! I am very confused about my son. A few weeks ago he started seeing spots coming at him as he describes it,he then falls down when they completely cover his vision. He also has many more episodes of seeing double for just a split second. Both of these episodes last only a few seconds, or less except for the headache that sometimes follows the spots which can last about 2 minutes. We went to the neurologist and he had the MRI done, thank God that came back clear. My son had an EEG a few days ago, which showed some abnormalities, but not enough to say he is definitely having seizures. Now the neuro wants my son to have a 23 hr EEG. Can anyone explain to me what exactly happens during a 23 hr EEG? Can any of you relate to these spells my child is having? The dr says his spells really don't fall into any particular seizure category. Also does anyone know if there is a correlation between high IQ and seizures? Any help/advice would be appreciated:)Thanks!

hi my son had an overnight eeg. They put the electrodes on his head with this speical glue and then wrpped it so they woulnt come off. He could still walk around but not far. We were in the hospital the whole time. He is four so he got bored really easy. This was the test that really showed what was wong with my son. If we had just the sllep deprived one hour test I dont think we would have gotten the same esults. It showed the temporal lobe seizures which do cause what you son is experiencing. They are called simple partial seizures. I found some good info on epilepsyfoundation.com. Good luck.

I have a four year old daughter who has seizures. She had been seizure free for almost 2 years. A month ago she started waking up in the middle of the night crying that she had a headache and could not lay down because it hurt. So I would have to sit her upright on my lap so that she could fall asleep. She also was having nosebleeds. So we went back and forth to the doctor until her Neurologist ordered and EEG and she was having abnormal activity in her temporal lobe. But her eyes have always been really sensitive to any bright light, she does not like to get anything on them or in them, such as something simple as water in the bath tub. I dont know if that helps you any.

My ds has also been very sensitive from light. During the EEG where they flashed lights into his face, he had an extremely hard time holding still because it bothered him so much. I also get affected by flashing lights and get migraines from them as well as many other sources. Almost everyone in my family has migraines BTW ,but the doctor said my sons spells did not seem to be that.
