weird sleep and epilepsy

I'm new to all this so sorry if I'm retreading something that's already been discussed. In addition to having what seem like complex partial seziures when I'm awake, I've been having a related problem in the mornings. Some mornings nothing will wake me up short of a loud noise (louder than an alarm clock) or physically shaking me. Some mornings I _seem_ to wake up but eventually, even as much as an hour and a half later, I fall back asleep. Afterwards I don't remember anything that goes on during the between-sleep periods. For example, this morning I woke up, finally, during a loud thunderstorm. After that I remember eating breakfast, but I don't remember how I got to work. I remember needing to call my health insurance company at work, but I am not sure this conversation ever took place. I remember lying on the couch at work (it's a small, cozy place and they have things like couches) and then nothing until a half-hour later, when I sat up. This sleep stuff, needless to say, is really freaking me out. Is it seizure-related? Has anyone experienced this? I can't seem to find any info on this event, and I get normal, full nights of sleep. Any ideas? Nicholas

Thanks, but none of this quite covers what's happening to me. I can think of two options: 1) I'm having seizures in my sleep that I'm not aware of, and 2) I have a sleep-related problem that's not related to epilepsy at all. The thing is, I sleep well, and I get a full eight hours of sleep (or more, lately) most nights. I've been cleared of having sleep apnea or narcolepsy, and it's hard to think that an absence seizure could last an hour or longer. So I'm stumped. Nicholas

No, a seizure won't last an hour or longer unless possibly status. I was trying to post links that fit with your first posts description. A possible on losing time is an absence and they can also occur in clusters. As far as seizures in your sleep, nocturnal seizures could be a possibility, but with your having tests for sleeping disorders, it looks like they would have considered this. I know there are different times I go through the same. It feels as if I lean against a door frame even, I'll fall asleep. Stay awake for an hour then out again and I also lose time. I'll keep looking and see if I can find a closer explanation. -Spiz
