Uhm. Hi.

Hi, so I don't have epilepsy but I do have seizures. I've had two total, due to idopathic abnormal electrical impulses on the left side of my brain. I'm on Keppra, which is doing very well for me, since its been six months since my last seizure. I just. Well. I don't know how to put this. Which is my problem. My doctor said it's normal, since the seizures were on my left side, but words are now difficult for me. I used to have a vast vocabulary and could speak intentions and feelings easily. And now I find that hard to do. It's not like drawing a blank, it's more like drawing a void. The words just don't exist. Even now, trying to make this sound intelligent is a task. I'm used to repressing my feelings, which isn't healthy, I know. But when you try to sort your feelings you can connect dots to events or people and feelings and so on and get it sorted. I repress my current speaking issue, but there's no feelings, people or events to connect the dots to. There's just...nothing. I'm frustrated and have broken down many times over not being able to speak or even explain how I'm feeling. I mean, I once forgot how to say "water" and how to explain it. I probably sound whiny and silly, but not being able to talk to others, or even express how I feel is a problem for me. Can anyone help? Thank you.

I don't have epilepsy but I do have seizures. I've had two total, due to idopathic abnormal electrical impulses on the left side of my brain. <<<<abnormal electrical impulses are what neurologists are looking for in the EEG.. If you jhave those as you say then yes you do have epilepsy. What starts a seizure is an electrical impulse hitting wrong in the brain. so your abnormal impulses cause wrong hits. The seizure itself is the chain reaction caused by that hit.Now idopathic abnormal electrical impulses can be in different places in your body. If it is the heart then you have a heart ailment. If the brain you have epilepsy. Those idopathic hits in the brain become a seizure syndrome; a brain disorder associated with abnormal electrical impulses in the neurons of the brain; causes can include brain trauma, brain injury, tumros, toxins, and infections. The side of the brain can be important. Understand that one side of the brain controls the other side of the body. For me my focal seizures start with my right hand. The scar tissue in on my brain is in hte left lobes of my brain abiut mid level. The seizures start with my right hand feeling numb or weird. As for your neurologistsaying it is normal. It is but you can learn how to gain that back. About the only things I have had peroblems with is the speed I read at. Before I was diagnosed with eilepsy I could read my assignments and get them done in a few minutes. After the diasnosis it too two times as long. My reading may be slower but my retention is great. A teacher asked me where I had gotten certain information on my essay. I gave her book. chapter paragraph and page.So in some ways you may lose something but you gain in other areas. You did not tell us how lok=ng you have been having epilepsy or seizures. I hope this helpsJoe
