Topamax

Hi, I am new to Epilepsy! Still trying to deny it actually. Starting a little whoa is me, I can't drive, medicines wacking me out kinda thing. Husband can't relate. Just wondering if Topamax drove anyone else crazy. No sleep, can't stand noise. It's like being on 40 cups of coffee. Usually, I'm Miss happy go lucky, you know the kind a super mom that gets on everyones nerves. Not now. I'm 36 an was healthy as could be when I started with dizzy spells, then started passing out, and then came the seizures. They went from one to five in about three weeks time. They are complex partial seizures that are gerneralized and I don't even know what that all means. Anyway, started on med #2 already after week #4. Overwhelmed by how long it may take to find the right med. Can't drive for 6 months since last seizure in SC, USA. Maybe just typing this down to others who understand will help. thanks. DebVernon

This is a little annoying. I

This is a little annoying. I guess I've gotten out of practise with html. I'd written a response and it somehow got reduced to my tag line. Ah well. The jist of it was that medication adjustments can be truly wretched. It's taken 6 months now to sort out a new combination of drugs and their respective levels. It won't necessarily take that long, but it's important you know it can, and even more important that your hubby be on board to support you through this. My other thought was that if you don't really thoroughly understand your diagnosis it might be a good idea to corner your doctor and ask questions until you feel you do understand. I know a lot of my frustration and helplessness have stemmed from not getting sufficient information from my neurologist. We have a good relationship now, but that only comes after I most emphatically reminded him that I'm a person, not a file. Anyhow, I don't know if this helps, but know you're not alone, and this is survivable. Honest. Mary But I'm NOT on cheap drugs, they're just government subsidized.
