Temporal lobe epilepsy

i've just been diagnosed with TLE, and i was wondering whether anyone else here has this? I find it really difficult to deal with, as i find it hard to think straight before, after, and during seizures. Loads of people describe the seizures as really pleasurable, but i hate them! i'm doing my A levels, but i've been missing a lot of school, because of my TLE. Besides meds, does cognitive behavioural therapy work? i had this before for depression, and found it helpful, but i don't know whether it would help me now. many thanks emma

Hi emma, Quite a few people on here have TLE, yours truly included. Yes, I am all confused after a seizure. but give me about 10 minutes and I can usually snap out of it, back to a semi-resonable state. Heck I can't even speak for the first couple minutes, let alone tell you who I am, or anything else. As for seizure being pleasureable? Hmmmm, I wouldn't know about that. I am usually out cold for most of mine(complex-Partials), although I can say the simple partials that invole music or lights can be kinda cool. The simple partials that involve smells are very nasty...I hate those. Gretchen (one of our members) taught me to go run and smell the coffee when ever I get one of those seizures. Thanx Gretchen! As for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy working on Epilepsy, specifically TLE...interesting concept...I know it has been tried on Schizophrenia before, and supposedly they had a good amount of success with it. But it was a small study.(And if I remember correctly the people did remain on their meds, they just needed less than the people without the Therapy.) Since it does help you for the depression, I am sure it couldn't hurt. Dayna
