some idea? im still shaken up

Mon, 06/19/2006 - 17:20
If you don't mind me spilling out my stess..... on fri eve...my g/f (fidget) was walking from our backroom to the front...on the way she felt like throwing up..I set her up in the bathroom (got her comfortable in front of the toilet), and gave her some privacy...after a moment I could hear some wretching...or what I thought was wretching..it was this weird sort of fast sucking in breathing sound..I peeked in, and she was sitting up leaning against the tub with her head back.. I didn't really know what to think..as I got closer I could see her eyes were wide open, her breathing in that weird way, and her lips super blue...she was totally non responsive to my voice and touch...at first I thought she was choking, and just concentrating on clearing her throat, but that quickly changed as her face was instantly gettting paler, and bluer around her mouth..in hind sight I took a risk..I laid her on the floor..our bathroom is a weird design.. I could of hurt her worse..hindsight sucks....still thinking she was choking I attempted a mouth sweep...her jaw was locked and she bit my finger (just pressure, she was still non responsive to stimuli, and didn't mean it) I left her and grabbed the phone...came back and called 911...during the call she kinda stopped breathing, and I almost began rescue breaths, but she started moving around slightly, started breathing normal and became responsive abit...I tried to keep her calm, and explain that she needed to stay still...I told the dispatcher I think she had a seizure...no convulsing, but alot of the other symptoms. By the time the paramedics arrived ( more hindsight....my street used to be connected to a neighboring village by a bridge across a river 70 years or so ago. It no longer exists. however if you don't specify which side yer on it leads to confusion..food delivery people get confused, and apparently so do resuce workers...never trust 911 to be able to determine your EXACT location like I did) she was awake, lucid, but at least responsive..they checked her out and her vitals were just about normal...one of the paramedics suggested she had a vagus response, but I still say siezure (i have very little medical experience, but I was there, and seizure matches her actions closer than her vagus messing with her) she refused to go to the hospital, but promises to make a Dr's appt soon...sweet jesus..I'm keeping a close eye on her now..but she seems no worse for wear besides being tired, and having no memory besides sitting down to puke.... for you armchair Dr.s: she worked physically hard today.. ate only a piece a chicken for lunch... consumed a redbull, and a sparks... hurt her back lifting a sewing machine... took a hot shower... had some ben gay applied to her back... took some aspirin... was super nervous and anxious about a work issue.... has a history of fainting here and there.... Thank god shes alright...my first aid, and cpr skills suck....I was sorely unprepared....and am kicking myself for the stupid mistakes what do you think? siezure? or something else?

If I didn't have this place to "spill out my stress," I'd be totally bananas by now. Spill all you want. I don't know enough about all of this to say whether or not your girlfriend had a seizure, but I wanted to point out that there are several seizure triggers in your list that I am aware of--low blood sugar, caffeine, elevated body temp, and stress. Other people may be able to help you out more. Don't kick yourself. She is lucky to have someone like you around. Good luck with all of this. --heidi

Hi I'm not a doctor but I do know some triggers of epilepsy that may be the sign of her being epileptic here. But really i cant say. You should encourage your girlfriend to see a doctor and have some tests done like an EEG or an MRI. Stress, overtiredness, anxious, and heat can aggrevate triggers of a seizure. But really, please try and get her to a doctor and find out the truth. them she can be treated properly. She is lucky to have someone like you who cares so much. Good luck! Quirky
