Seizures or low blood pressure??

Fri, 11/07/2014 - 11:08

Hello everyone:) I'm hoping someone might read this and have some advice for me. Over the last few months I've had intense feelings of dread/fear that come and go very quickly. This has been happening almost every day. Then a couple of weeks ago right after I would have the intense fear feeling my head would droop forward and I can't keep my eyes open. I'm aware of everything around me I just can't open my eyes or lift my head. Sometimes if it happens when I'm walking I fall. I've noticed that I slurr if it comes on while I'm in a conversation. I also get very tired afterwards. My limbs feel very heavy sometimes like walking through water. I get a sense of being detached sometimes too. Before I was having This for just a few seconds and then it would pass but now it lasts longer and it's seems like the episodes are almost back to back. My dr thinks I'm experiencing sudden drops in blood pressure possibly caused by something neurological. I have an appt with a nuerologist next week but it's driving me crazy not knowing what's wrong with me. I have three kids under the age of five and ive had to have someone with me daily to help care for them:( I feel like my life is crumbling around me. I just want to be me again. Oh and my blood pressure is very low, last night it was 80/49. Can low blood pressure be the culprit or am I having some kind of seizure? Thanks for any advice:)

What you posted could be

What you posted could be several types of seizures. Yes blood pressure can affect someones blood pressure. Did your doctor check you for an irregular heart beat??? I have epilepsy so I do know some of the different types of seizures. I had an irregular heart beat and at times my blood pressure would be high or low. I have been in drug studies for medications for epilepsy and during those for some they take a EKG wanting to see if the medication is effecting the heart beat. So I also know that blood pressure can cause issues. Visit with the neurologist and see what he thinks. If he wants to run tests fine. One will be an EEG. The EEG is a brain wave test. It shows the electrical output comming from the brain. All a seizure is is an electrical impulse comming from the brain wrong causing a chain reaction. With many people their EEG comes back normal. That said it doesn't mean you don't have impulses going off wrong in your brain. The EEG can only read down to a certain level in the brain. The other test might be a MRI. That would show him if there is anything in or on your brain that might cause those impulses to go off wrong. Many things can be there. Scared brain tissue from a blow to the head. Something growing wrong.  For me my epilepsy is caused by scared brain tissue which was from a hemmorage to the brain. The hemmorage to the braion was from a blow to my head. Well I had a rung to a ladder on bunk beds come out when I was on the top step. I hit the rail on the top bunk which spun my head. Then I hit the bottom rail cutting my cheek and knocking out 4 teeth. Back then the doctors were more worried about stiching up my jaw and fixing it. Sure I had a knot on my head but32 stiches werwe what was needed then. Besides there were no MRI's or CT scans. Relax and understand that your doctor thinks there MIGHT be something wrong. If he is correct you will have another issue to deal with. There are many medications out that help control seizures. I used to have several seizures a week and they lasted 5-10 minutes. It then took 15-45 minutes to focus (get back to normal. The medications today have changed those times. The same seizures are now 5-8 seconds and the focus time is 10-15 seconds. I could have a seizure while discussing something with you and you would know nothing about it. Last month I had one while discussing an issue with my PCP. I stopped talking to him for a few seconds then completed the sentence. I asked him what he thought the delay was. He stated he thought I was trying to find the right word. When I told him it was a seizure he was anazed. He knew I had seizures becaue I had some in his office so he was aware of my seizures and the time it took in them and tome to get back to normal. So young lady there are meds today that can and do help. It takes time for the body to get used to the medication. A medication that works for one person may not on the next. Dosages are the same. Can everybody drink the same ammount??  I hope the neurologists assist you and you get this issue corrected

I have this as well and they have no idea what it is. They believe it is caused by idiopathic orthostatic hypotension.
